2003 Newmar Mountain Aire generator no start?

So the generator is acting like batter was dying.. then nothing. But house batteries have charge.... so is there another battery the generator uses to start?? Totally stumped on this can't find anywhere that it should have another battery?

And again it sounded like a battery dying. First tried starting, then starter click loud til quiet and quieter and quieter til now it doesn't do anything...

So little to work with here. Is the rig new to you? If so, was the generator working prior to sale? Is there a chance you have overcranked it trying to start it?

If it's a diesel and has an inverter, then the chassis batteries are used to start the generator. This allows the coach batteries to run down and the generator to start to charge them.
Mine has an auto generator start that is set to 11.1 volts and then it fires up the gen.

Is a gas, not a diesel

There is not a separate battery for the generator.

Battery connections are on the rear base of the generator. You need to check voltage here, before and while attempting to start. Voltage at rest should equal what you measure at house battery. If not or the voltage dives near zero when you try to start, bad connections or bad battery. Check for a weak ground. Needs to ground to frame not generator slide.

How do you get to the rear bottom? Sorry am very much a noob at this. Does the generator itself actually slide out?

Is just weird it acted like a dying battery 🤔🤔

Pretty sure only some front mount diesel gennies slide out. Always suspect the batteries then cables and ground connections next. They all use a twist to engage starter bendix. So the start solenoid carries a lot of amps.suspect them third , the starter forth.

Will main engine start? If it also will not start it’s the chassis batteries. Connections are your next suspect. Since you said the generator is gas I am assuming that it doesn’t have a slide.

Mountain Aire with a gas generator?

Okay, if gas or LP take the generator front door off. Positive battery post is on the lower left inside the box. Negative is underneath, looking up on right side, marked negative. No slide.

Well when we take cover off generator the battery posts aren't even in front. They're actually on the right side if the generator facing the house batteries on the bottom left of right side. I've wiggled wires. Made sure everything still connecting right. Just completely baffled. Trying to avoid service center but if I can't figure this out imma have to get it there when back home in nash
