2004 Pace Arrow 37C Converter replacement
Hello,
I am new to this site and hope I can find some info on an issue I have with my 2004 Pace Arrow mod 37C motor home.
I have determined that my converter needs replacing, I have located it under the Washer/dryer, the problem is getting it out of there.
Has anyone had to do this? or does anyone know of a thread on here that talks on this?
Thanks

Input is good - and no output with no load?? Any fuse or circuit breaker on it?
I had to get at mine under the refrigerator - laying on my belly with arms stretched to get to it...

Manufacturers put converters in some strange places at times. It may be easy to pull the washer out and remove the shelf it sits on to access the converter. I got lucky, mine is in the bottom of the kitchen cabnets

Input power in good, the two fuses near the exit terminals check good, the output voltage checks only 4-5.5 volts. The fan on the unit cycles on and off so it sounds like it's working but only 4-5.5 volts coming out.

I changed one out for a friend about 6 years ago on his 37C - those crappy WFCO converters they used typically lasted only 4 years or so. What a PITA! If you have the original converter and are just now replacing it, consider yourself lucky.
There is an access panel in the galley so you can reach in from the other side, but it doesn't help much. Lot's of wiggling, use of shortie and offset screwdrivers and small wrenches, etc. Lot's of cussing too! Getting the wires off was worse than removing the hold-down screws. As I recall it took me all afternoon for what should have been a 30-40 minute job.
I didn't look at the possibility of removing the washer first, but that might not be easy either. Not much room to pull the washer out into the bath or a place to put it when its out, but it's worth considering. I would also consider enlarging the access opening from the galley side, but the real problem is just the very short space above the converter plus all the wiring jammed in there.

I replaced my WFCO last year. It was a pain but maybe not as much as yours. I will say that you should disconnect your batteries at the terminals and unplug the rv as well before you mess with anything. Please don't ask me how I learned this .

I have a 04 37-C and had to change mine. I don't have a washer/dryer so it was very easy to change. The access panel that's under where the washer/dryer goes comes right up, only four screws holds it down. You might could change it thru the access panel but there is no room in there to work plus mine had foam sealer from where they had sealed the holes for the wires thru the floor and dryer vent helping hold it down. I don't know how hard it is to remove the W/D but you might be better off going in that way in the long run.
I'll make a picture of what under there if you need it, just let me know.

When my convertor died in my 37C after 4 years, I cut a second air passage in the bathroom to help with cooling air flow. The single vent hole on the galley side did not make much sense to me.The fan on the old unit came on frequently and the fan on this one never operates with the added air flow.Of course this proves nothing as I did not buy another one of those WFCO jokes.

Yep, WFCOs are Chinese junk. I replaced an old humming Magnatek with a PD9200 Series a few years ago. I have yet to even hear the fan come on. Although IOTA makes a good unit, I'm a dyed in the wool progressive dynamics fan. The 3 stages is a no brainer, but I like the automatic Equalization mode as well as a remote control so you can lock in a specific voltage output.
