2006 Itasca Suncruiser versus Sunrise Both 38J
Well I messed up, looking at buying what I thought was a 2006 Itasca Suncruiser 38J but it is a Sunrise 38J, oops. Looking at nada .com the list price on the 2006 Suncruiser was 20000 more than the Sunrise. Why, both are Workhorse/Allison power, triple slides etc. I see the Suncruiser has a 10 gallon hot water tank versus 6 on the Sunrise.
All comments are very welcome as I am supposed to give a deposit today and really don't want to make a big mistake.
Thank you

I have an 06 Sunrise (35A). The Sunrise is a lower content model compared to the Suncruiser. One difference is the 6 vs 10 gal W/H. An other (at least on mine) is 30 vs 50 amp service. However, both are optional on the Sunrise. Make sure you get the 24K chassis if it is optional. I'm pushing 21,700 lbs on my 22K chassis without the added weight of a washer/dryer installed. This is my 6 month snowbirding weight with about 1/3 tank of water. Although the 6 speed Allison 1000 transmission was available in 2006, the 5 speed was used by Winnebago on the 22K Sunrise.
You can go on the Winnebago website and download the brochures for any year and model to compare features.

I think you'll find the Suncruiser is the top of the line Itasca gas motorhome.

Well I got the build sheet from the dealer and I am happy. The coach has 50 amp system, 10 gallon hot water heater, rest well couch/recliner/bed with the push of a button, power awning with wind sensor and shade screen, upgraded tv and entertainment system, auto levelling jacks, outside entertainment system, 4 door stainless fridge with ice maker, moen faucet with sprayer, ultra leather driver/passenger seats, Workhorse with Allison 2100 trans, 24000 chassis. I think it is pretty much upgrades via options to the Suncruiser.
Only 25000 miles, bought local, darn I might have lucked out.

Have the TVs been replaced with new, flat screen LCD types? The 4 door refrigerator, if it is a Norcold, can be problematic...it can start on fire! What are the date codes on the tires. If they are original and even if they look great, they need replacing. They age out, not wear out.

Sounds like a nice one. We are really happy with our Suncruiser and the W24 Workhorse chassis. I don't think you can go wrong if the price is right.

Suncruiser is the top of the Winnebago lineup on the Itasca side. Adventurer on the Winnebago side. Sunrise is 2 steps down in the lineup.

Actually the Sunrise was only 1 step down from the Suncruiser. From what I remember from back when we ordered our Sunrise, a lot of the options for the Sunrise were standard on the Suncruiser and some things were not even available as an option on the Sunrise. Electric blinds for instance were not available on the Sunrise. Also in 05 full body paint was not an option for the Sunrise but was in 06. Basement air was one of the big differences, standard on the Suncruiser, not even an option on the Sunrise. You'd have to look at the brochures from back then to pick out the rest of the differences. The Suncruiser is a very nice rig, but we've never regretted getting our Sunrise.
