2008 Fleetwood Excursion 40x propane issue.

On board 38 gal tank.

Having flow issues since last propane fill up. I don’t think tank was properly purged.

If I open up the purge valve I’m getting all air and no LP. Frankly, I’m not sure if this is the issue, but after purging some air, appliances begin to work but flame goes out within a minute.

Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks, jpk.

Tanks do NOT get purged unless a component has been removed and air enters tank
**Brand new ones have to be purged prior to use but after that no air is in tank

'Purge valve'....that should be opened when filling
It is the Fixed liquid level gauge. Vapor flows out until tank reaches 80% liquid level then liquid would spew out indicating tank is full.

Your Main Reg maybe the issue....
IF 2008 OEM Reg....time to replace it

May have 'flow limiter' in the fitting for regulator.
If Vapor/service valve is opened too quickly it can cause those to trip
Close vapor/service valve---wait 30 seconds then SLOWLY open vapor/service valve
Then to establish flow/pressure turn stove top burners on HI one at a time, with all on let them burn for few seconds then start the fridge, water heater, or furnace

Still having flow issue....replace the Main LP Reg

You will only get vaporized gas from the purge ( actually bleeder ) valve. It sounds lines air coming out but smells like gas.

The gas will look the same as the gas coming out of the stove burner, if not lit, invisible.

The bleeder valve only spits out a visable propane flume ( liquid propane ) when the tank is close to full capacity. Its an indication that the tank is at 80% of full. That's when the guy should shut down the fill hose. There is also a backup overfill valve to stop the filling.

If you need to purge a tank of air, it needs to be empty and you use the main valve.

Can't see needing to purge it, they pump in liquid propane.

Thanks for the quick response gentlemen.

I’ve managed to get the gas heat working again and stove, but the hot water heater is still an issue and LP function on refrigerator, neither working. I’ll keep at it.
