2009 & Older Diesel Engine Replacement

I have been looking at getting a DP in the year range of 2000 - 2008. However I live in California and I have heard that the diesel engines of the older models will need to be rebuilt to 2010 standards by 2020 to be registered. Is this correct or have I been fed a line of you know what.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Californina has some strange laws, but I don't think that is one of them. I do recall there being some changes affecting commercial diesels over a certain weight (think tractors, etc).

All it took was a simple Google search to verify that the rules you have noted relate to commercial trucks. There's an awful lot of misinformation available on this and other social media platforms.

Whether it's true or not, keep in mind the president's rule to undo California smog requirements.

Law is for commercial trucks only and I think they have delayed putting in place.

But then again it’s california, would you really put it past them. They have destroyed what is a beautiful state just like they have here in New York.
