2011 Tiffin Breeze Chassis Batteries
I have a 2011 Tiffin Breeze 28 DP and just completed a 3k trip from Northern Virgina to St Paul Mn and back vis the U.P. Of Michigan both ways.
This was the first long trip this season and the first morning, the motor hesitated starting. I’ve been seeing this and found an Interstate Battery shop a couple miles away and swapped out my (original 2010) batteries (2 of them) with like kind of original and the motor started right away and all was well the next two weeks.
Got back to VA and a day rest, coach plugged in at the house, getting ready for a run to Norfolk for granddaughters 2 Bday. Coach started fine initially, moved it around to hook up Toad and shut it off. Went to start it, barely turned over, battery light flashing. Hooked it to house for 15 mins to charge the batteries and finally got it started.
Watched the on board chassis voltage and have a Scangauge connected and monitored same there. Was getting 14 vdc initially and settled to 13.5 vdc most the 4 hour trip. So alternator is working...
Have the battery tender in place, it’s reading fine with 50 amp hookup at campsite. Just checked the batteries with multimeter, 13.6 vdc, but chassis batteries are reading 11.9 vdc on the coach computer just sitting after 36 hours.
So, I’m confused. I’m thinking I may have a bad battery, that is one of the two has an issue. BTW, I’m a retired Engineer and former USMC helo electrician on Marine One so I know my stuff. But all signals point to a battery failure.
Clearly open to suggestions, the wiring diagram on this model is less than desirable for troubleshooting it.
Leaving in the am and hopefully it starts. Worst case jump it...
