2017 Winnebago vista LX 27N 3k miles

Hi all,

We are very close to signing on the dotted line.

Put a deposit down on the above coach and if all goes well we pick it up next week. Purchased for 84k. First question is, was it a good price? Also would love to hear from all of you that have one the good the bad and I hope mostly good.

We sure enjoy ours. We have 13000 miles and many nights behind us and always planning our next trip. We bought new and ours had 2000 miles on it as it was driven to CA from the OH factory. MH listed for 121000 and we payed 96900. Ours did not have full paint or outside tv, no reclining passenger chair but had all other options. We love the floor plan. It works very well for us. The kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom are well thought out and the storage is wonderful. We have added several suspension upgrades as the stock F53 chassis are not what I would call a pleasure to drive. Much better now! Night and day difference really. My advise is to inspect every thing carefully and then do it again. We did not see some flaws until after the warrantee ended but nothing we can not live with. We did have some warrantee issues that were fixed and in a timely manner. Also two factory recalls. List follows:

1 Both the passenger and dinnet slides had to have their gears and motors replaced due to sloppy assembly at the factory. Winnebago is aware and replaced without question. These issues caused me concern but all seems well and I do not worry about this anymore as they work every time.
2. Drivers side compartment leaked when traveling in rain.
3. Kitchen drawers would open when cornering. Double latches installed.
4. Bedroom fan failed twice.

Factory recalls was the electric transfer switch nuts needed to be tightened and the fire extinguisher replaced.

I would post your question in the Winnebago area of this form. These issues are not necessarily a vista LX issue but a Winnebago issue. We looked and looked and our floor plan is very well thought out and for the money the quality of Winnebago is good. A lot of others we looked at were less money more frills but not nearly as well built in our opinion.

Here’s the update. We just left the dealer, first thing we noticed was an inspection form everything checked off meanwhile the wipers were dry rotted. The unit hasn’t been driven in close to a year, the Coleman AC did not cool the coach in the 3 hours we were there it went from 78 to 76. The coach shook tremendously and made the kitchen faucet drip water. The bedroom slide would not open all the way. We didn’t bother to perform the entire check we took out check and asked the dealer to notify the seller and inform them of the issues. If they are willing to fix then perhaps we may reconsider. We also asked for a 12 month warranty since it didn’t come with any. We are disappointed but couldn’t see paying for numerous issues.

We paid 80K for a new 2017 Vista LX 35F. Full body paint included. Had the doggie window and rear bath wall paper repaired under warranty. Added lots of upgrades. Still working on handling issues.

Wants to wander in the lane. A lot worse in the wind. Have made improvements with items in my signature but think it could be better. Some report similar issues and some have none. I think the shorter chassis may be better.

Bought a new 2016 Vista 27N and also had major handling problems. Had it back to the factory twice for the handling issue and even after installing Safe T Steer it was a handful above 20mph crosswinds. Also had 4” of shims installed in the right rear to level it out. You may find that the right rear is over 1,400 lbs heavier than the other corners due to the passenger slide. Add that to three paint touch ups due to the full body paint bubbling, four slide repairs and two three jack replacement including the pump amounted to three months total in the shop in the first year.
As we travel between Seattle and Florida every year we could no longer trust it. Paid $113,000, multiple dealers offered $59,000 max, sold it for $83,000 private party and feel lucky. Nightmare over. Purchased a nice 2004 from the original owner and have only had minor issues.

Update:: We declined the purchase and have informed the dealer and owner how deceptive they were starting with the altered so called inspection. We made a purchase a new 2018 with warranty from manufacturer and lifetime from dealer. Feel much better.

45%+ under MSRP. Gotta be a record for buying new.

Dixie RV offers this on 2016 and newer coaches/trailers/etc. But it only covers specific things like A/C and such. And it requires an annual inspection that runs about $350 currently. Local Honda dealers here offer a lifetime powertrain warranty, IF you use them for your oil changes and such. You can guess what those oil changes cost.

Elks. We had looked at one earlier in the year but were still looking. Went back when the 2018 models came out and our sales representative told us that they had a deal on the last remaining 2017. We were looking for something in the 30 foot range but after looking at the floor plan with the bath 1/2 and super price we immediately snatched it up. Now to get the handling better.
