Two trips planned so far. Mid Feb leave for 10 weeks hitting Charleston, Savannah, FL panhandle then to Atlanta to visit friends, Gaffney for annual service, Smokey Mtns, Louisville to visit mom then back to NJ. Then late summer/early fall Black Hills then 5 weeks in Utah, North Rim Grand Canyon, the Albuquerque Balloon Festival before heading back to NJ. Will squeeze in few small trips in between plus visiting grandkids. Newly solo due to passing of DW last Aug.

2018 trips
We are in Largo Fl. for the winter and heading to Victoria, BC in early April and then on home to NL, Canada. Tentative itinerary: AL, MS, TN, AK, TX, NM, AZ, NV, CA, OR, WA. No time frame.
We are in a 35 ft. MH with toad. Any suggestions or recommendations welcome. We took our time driving to Fl. We left home Sept. 30th and arrived in Largo on Nov.1st. We stopped in Baddeck, NS; Moncton, NB; Ottawa, Ontario; PA; College Park, MD: Mount Airy, NC and Savannah GA.
We had much appreciated advice from the irv2 forum with the routes and sightseeing

We just went full time. We don't have any solid plans yet. We know we have to be in Twentynine Palms in march to see our son before he deploys. But we already did Joshua Tree NP when we were there last year to welcome him hope from deployment. But we'll probably check out Palm Springs, maybe Big Bear.
Then we have to be up in Carson City for a colonoscopy in May. Tried to get it done before we left but it had been 9 1/2 years and insurance only pays every ten years We'll probably drive up 395 on the way, go to Yosemite and maybe Kings Canyon/Sequoia.
Then, we really have no idea. Oregon coast? Washington? Colorado? Idaho and Montana? Nice problem to have.

I’m curious how far in advance you make your reservations for campsites? I would really like to just wing it but can’t shake the worry that I won’t get into the places I want. I know I could always Wallydock but don’t like to do that if can be avoided. I’m an anal planner and typically make reservations 5-6 months or more in advance. I’m in a 40ft DP.
Originally planned to wing it for upcoming trip but checked a couple places in FL panhandle and they were already full. So I panicked and made reservations for whole trip. Now locked into itinerary.
Have trip to Utah and NM in September and October and would like to wing it, but ...

We do up an itinerary and book holiday weekends well in advance. When I know where we will probably be I will call around and get info re availability. This will be our 1st time travelling across the US. In Canada mid July thru August into Labour Day w/e are the peak times as well as all of the other long week ends. For our long stay in Florida we booked a year in advance. In Oct. in Savannah area all the parks closest to Savannah were booked up. So if you know generally where you ant to be call and ask what their vacancy rate is during the time you want to visit.
I research our route and read the reviews of the parks and areas I want to visit. This will be our 4th trip coming up in April. We have had to juggle our itinerary some times but changing some of the dates has not been a problem. When you have no or very few 1 nighters you can easily change your itinerary if needed. Some parks do not take deposits so they were very easy to deal with changes. When we finalize our itinerary I will call the parks to get an idea of what to do. Most snow birds leaving Fl should not be on our route. Some have a very strict cancellation policy so beware! Some of the parks we only booked a day or a few days in advance but when we arrived there was no vacancy.KOA's are great as you can check availability on line. I am sure you are not as anal as me!
Hope this helped

Downstate NY in January and February: visiting the children and grandbabies
Ottawa, Ont in February
Washington DC in March
New England, Canadian Maritimes in May and June
Our big trip will leave in August and crisscross the northern states and Canada. Having seen Newfoundland (Atlantic Ocean) in June we intend to make it to BC and Washington (Pacific Ocean) as the first leg of the journey.
Then we intend on heading down south to Arizona and seeing as many National Parks along the way as we can, before they are laced with billboards, open mining and drilling.
We hope to spend a few weeks with the wife's best friend and family in Phoenix Ariz. before returning home seeing as many sights and parks as we can. The end of the trip will be based on the weather.

Our new Tiffin will be delivered to us about the first of April. For our first journey we plan on leaving Dallas the last of May headed to Escapade in Sedalia, MO. From there we will head toward Lincoln, NE to visit some friends. We will then proceed across NE into WY for a while before meandering through UT making our way toward the White Mountains of AZ and the Gila Wilderness of NM before heading back to the Dallas area to see the kids and grandkids. Plan on taking about 4 months for this little trip.
