We plan on making a late summer/fall trip from SC up around Lake Superior. This we be our first trip with the MH into Canada.
A spring trip down to Tx and La to visit family is also in the works.
And, if I decide to pull the trigger and retire, I think a trip out to Seattle, down the coast to San Francisco and back would be nice.
My goal is to wear that Motorhome out.

Niece gets married north of Ouray, Co. So we'll be pointing the Memory Machine that direction in May. Then we'll skip over to Moab for a week and stretch the legs on the lifted Forester.
Later in the year, the grandkids will be in the states and they want to go to Disney World, so we'll spend a couple of weeks at Fort Wilderness.
Then, of course, reservations are made and paid for all seven home games of the college football season.
And a lot of long weekends in between.

Do you plan on going with a caravan, with other RV ers or just on your own? What is your approx departure date? What do you expect the roads will be like? We are thinking of going with Adventure Caravans with their 48 day tour out of Dawson Creek, BC on June 24th

2018 Trips
Leaving this cold next week for Florida with stops to visit relatives along the way. Home in early March then to the DC area late March. Point the front end toward Washington and Oregon and work our way to son's ranch. Home for summer with some short trips, maybe to the UP and then a fall trip to the SW.
Went to Nashville to deliver a boat yesterday and pick up some parts on the return. I-65, I-24 and I-69 was loaded with snow dirty RVs going south. Soon to join the parade.

This will be our 4th trip north. Never done a caravan. Looked at their itinerary. Nothing listed there that we can't do on our own. It is not like there are many choices of roads to use in the north. The caravans tend to use the CGs with services i.e. CGs that are no different to what you find in the lower 48. To us a big part of the northern experience are the remote CGs, which are almost always dry camping. They are the ones on the lakes & have the fantastic views where a moose could walk by as easily as the next camper coming down the CG road.
Have to hit a commercial CG every so often for a little communication with the outside world, a dump, a freshwater fillup & laundry.
Some like the security of a caravan however a caravan is like a cruise ship. If for some reason you have a problem & can't keep up, it will leave you behind.

Unless the house sells we have two trips planned at the moment.
1. February to May a trek from Florida (month of Feb in various parks in Florida) then up the coast ending in Charlotte to fly home to the DR.
2. August till November from Charlotte to the Pacific Northwest and ending up in Southern California.
We store the rig indoors when not using it.

We will be leaving for Baja in February to dry camp on the Bay of Conception for a few weeks and then on to the Pacific side for more of the same. When it gets too hot in Baja in May then off to the Northwest.

Kids and I are putting a month trip together for July. Vail Pass, Black hills, Oakland CA, Ventura Beach, Disneyland, Vegas, Hoover dam, Grand Canyon, Lake Havasu, Yosemite, Redwood National Park, Mammouth Cave are some of the points of interest we are thinking of.

Going to Alaska alone
LSBEH, John and Sue from Odessa, Tx. will be going to AK. alone.
No caravan for us. We usually take the "road less traveled" and are die hard Shunpikers.
In our early 60's we are in good shape and the MH is in better shape than us thanks to this group of sharing knowledge individuals.
We've got the Milepost and Camping in Alaska (?) books that are highly recommended here.

The strategy is to get the kids on board and then the wife...she isn't quite all there yet with RV vacations...her idea is to jump on a plane to a warm island and hang out at the pool a week.
And I am looking at my kids getting older where they won't want to travel with their parents. So, trying to take the opportunity for the kids to learn a bit about what's around them.
