2020 Newmar F53 Chassis

Looks like we will be needing a new motor at 4500 miles. Lost oil pressure on our trip yesterday and had to have it towed to dealer for evaluation. Looks like motor is a loss. Great way to start the vacation spending 6 hours on side of the road waiting for assistance.

That's a real bummer. Hope warranty will take care of it. Is it the V10 or the new V8 ?

Same thing happened to us last year on the way home from our first trip with new coach.. 2020 Coachmen on 2019 F53. lost oil pressure in engine immediately pulled over . 1800 miles on v10.
Got towed to Ford Dealer in Knoxville, TN and they put in a new engine. Ford was good about the whole thing. 9500 miles on the new one with no issues.
I was told Ford issued a service bulletin about this issue with some V10's with low mileage.
I hope it works out as well for you as it did for us.

So far so good with Ford, MH was towed 250 miles to a Ford Dealer that can service F53 Chassis. Ford Covered entire cost of tow $7500.00. But so much for summer vacation plans hopefully it won't take long to get it fixed.

It was the V10

Wow $7500 I guess I don't know how much a tow like that cost?

Save your receipts for any expenses you incur. I don't believe Ford is obligated to cover your expenses but they did for us. We had a few hotel rooms, rentals cars, fuel and meals . Ford covered it all.
It took a few days for the engine to be shipped then a couple to install it.
If you do need a new engine , the "home" portion of the coach is not altered or dismantled.
Removal and installation are all done underneath.

$30.00 per mile is literally “highway robbery”. Drivers getting paid by the mile get fifty to sixty CENTS per mile. Gotta be more than miles in this story.

Ford Roadside had 3 quotes for the tow 7500.00 was the lowest. Highest was 9500.00. At first they tried to make us pay. But as told them not my fault nearest location was 250+ miles away. They wanted to tow it to ford dealer that was only 25 miles from breakdown location but they wanted nothing to do with it. It's at facility now will get update tomorrow and timing. Luckily we we're only 100 miles to home. So no additional expenses.

Luckily there’s probably a million of the V10’s out there, shouldn’t be a problem getting one.

Swapping it out on the other hand….

For a drive that far it was a round trip cost plus the potential of an overnight (lodging & per diem) for the CDL tow driver. Local dealers won't touch a class A unless they can fit it inside the service center AND they have capacity in the service bay but lifts.

Just spoke with Ford Service center and they will evaluate the issue early next week. If it does need a new motor (which he feels will be the case) lead time is 7-10 days for the motor and about a week to install. Estimated time line is end of August. I think I could push the issue if we were full time but since we are not I may want to let them take the time and get it done correct. Depressing that we have now lost all our summer camping reservations that were hard to get the good spots this year.

Update from service center came in late yesterday and motor will have to be replaced. Service center will dive into root cause of failure late next week. Motor will be ordered for replacement and should arrive in 7-10 days ETA to be complete is 4 weeks.

Please continue to do follow-ups. You know, because we have a 2019 F-53 chassis with 9,010 miles on it...

For the people who had this happen, we're there any clues there was something wrong or just a Low Oil Pressure warning when it hit?

Thanks,

Ray
