We installed a 240v clothes dryer in our 2004 Signature. I had a factory installed 240V dryer in our 2007 Exec, so we just duplicated that install.
It's really not that difficult to wire. Your shore/generator power circuit breaker panel with have both L1 and L2 120v inputs that together are 240v coming in from either shore power or your generator.
First, Square D makes QO style Tandem (1/2 width) circuit breakers that can double your circuit capacity.
We installed a Square D QO style 30-30amp tandem circuit breaker in position 6 of the breaker box along with a QO 30-20 tandem circuit breaker in position 7. The dryer uses breaker 6B- 30A for one leg, and the adjacent circuit breaker 7A- 30A for the other leg of the 240V. It has a small plastic pin the ties breakers 6B and 7A together.
You can duplicate this in almost any two adjacent positions in your breaker box.
I ordered the Square D QO style 30-20 tandem breaker on eBay. Home Depot carries some QO tandem breakers, but they are all equal on each side (ex 15-15 or 20-20).
Let me know if you have any questions?

Not much to do with your original question, but our washer-drier combo works really well. Seems like a big expense for the upgrade. Any thought of using the existing equipment to assess whether anything else is needed?

You know quite few people say the same about the washer/dryer combo that it work really well and other said the opposite.About the expense it might be worth it and the trouble of finding a very good experience electrician that understand the rv

Compact residential appliances can be less expensive than RV units.
With some good shopping you can find a new 24" compact electric dryer for around $500. If you look at slightly used, they can be a real bargain!
A Spendide RV combo runs about $1000.

Good point about the difference in cost between a Splendide combo and a residential 220v unit. That could well cover the cost of the residential installation work. I will also say that you will be able to handle larger loads with a 220v unit. We don't put a lot of stuff in our Splendide at any one time, but it hasn't felt like a drawback to us.
I believe our OP already has a combo unit, so I just thought it worth running some test loads, possibly taking a sizable job off the project list.....

Since this coach will have 50 amps already then it will not need an upgrade, only a mod if there is not already 220amps available where the dryer is going to be. Dryers are 8 ga wire if I remember correctly so it can be brought from the main panel with an additional CB and the proper dryer plug. My question would be since while parking at a CG using their electricity why would you want to go through all the effort to do that? My DW just throws a short load in every other day and when we get back from where we were going it is done.
Good luck and keep us in the loop
