FMCA can have good prices

Also a large truck stop might be competitive

After purchasing my Hercules tires I was able to resell my used to tires thru Facebook Marketplace. A local guy who runs local trucks purchased all 6 used tires for about $350. Almost enough to pay for one new tire.

I bought six new off brand radial 275's on ebay for 2200.00 shipping included. I put in 12 oz tire beads, and just made a 5000 mile trip. no worries. Rode Great!

I just checked on ebay this morning, and you can still get good off brand 275's for around 320 each. I always use tire beads to balance, ebay 4-12 oz bags $30. I got a local independent tire guy that does commercial truck tires to mount, $25 each. I then sold my old 275's, on facebook for $400, to a guy that was putting them on a farm lowboy.

My local tire shop charged $50 each to mount and balance.
I bought 6 19.5" Sumitomos from Walmart Online 2 yrs ago. Had them delivered to my house. Date codes were 5@ 2 months old, 1 @ 4-5 months old. Had a week before I was taking the tires and RV to truck shop to have them installed, so I ordered a 7th hoping for a 2 month old. No luck, another 4-5 month old. Returned the 7th to my local Walmart. 5 days later it was sitting on my porch. Not sure why, but I now had a new free spare tire.
This yr I ordered 7 22.5" Toyos from Walmart online again. Best pricing as before. No tires older than 4 months. I bought the tire tools @ $90 and did the RR and myself. Surprised how easy it was to remove and reinstall a 22.5 tire on /off a rim. 5 min tops per tire. I also used the saving of doing the labor myself to buy 4 Centramatics.

guess Im too old and fat to be doing this stuff

Took 5 min to dismount the tires but getting those brand new tires on with spoons was work.

Now I am thinking of keeping 1 tire and putting it on the roof as a spare with a cover on it for the sun. Would be a pain to get down but not as hard as getting it up. and If something comes up I will be very happy to have that tire.

Anyone put a spare tire on their roof? Its only 120 pounds so weight wouldnt be an issue.

Just an observation from the comments. I have always found as good or better pricing from local dealers compared to the online sources. I just feel better keeping the profit money with a local businessman. I also found that I can sell 5 year old tires to a local seasonal trucker for his trailers for $75-$100 each. That keeps me in good tires at a discounted cost and the trucker gets reliable tires at a reduced price. A win win for all.

Edit: I certainly wouldn't attempt to carry a spare on top. Too much possibility of me being injured getting it up there or taking it down for something that has not been needed in 25 years of motorhome travel.

One thing I know for sure is that I'm not changing a tire on my my MH by myself. I carry an unmounted spare in one of my storage compartments so that roadservice does not have to search for one while we're sitting on the side of the road. I store other items (jumper cables, 50 amp extention cord, etc) inside the tire so I don't completely loose the space.
