Tires could take a good chunk of that cost. But for darn sure I'd make sure the motor and tranny were fine.

I will check the tire codes
But the seller did tell me that the tires were original with 47,000 kms
Where would I find the codes?

If it has the original plugs and wires then I would suspect those are the cause of the problem.
I had my slide covers replaced at about 6 years.
If the tires are original they MUST be replaced.

Honestly I can't remember if the check engine light was on at the same time. The sellers son was checking the small air compressor near the engine while it was running. (Not a smart move I know). But we didn't know till he told us he pulled a fuse while the engine was running. Just before it started to sputter. I am going to look at the MH again to check and see what he pulled and if it replicates the problem. Atleast he can show me what fuse he pulled.
As for the tires. Yes they are original I am told.

Feel free to email me all the specs and details. I am in Calgary.
Keep in mind that I am pretty sold on the Windsong shown above. Especially now that the seller has agreed to negotiate price a little more

Is anyone concerned about the 8.1 engine? I personally would not want one, since it appears to be an orphan. Chev. seemed to have a ton of problems with their larger gas engines.

Never had a problem getting parts from my Workhorse dealer.
Could you elaborate on the "ton of problems" statement? That hasn't been my observation and I've had two of them.

I would also be very interested in hearing what you have to say that is BAD about this engine. Any and all reviews that I have read are top notch, so far.... please comment

So now that I have narrowed down my original 3 possible new purchases to 1 (the 2004 WindSong)

A friend had the 454 in a motorhome and it would bend a pushrod anytime he loaded up the engine on a grade, typically. He became quite expert at changing out the pushrods!! I admit I'm a Ford man, but with many years experience with large engines and turbines, I like survivors. I've seen what happens to obsolete engines.
PS. I have the V10 in a Damon, that I drove from the Phoenix area to AR, towing a Ford Escape, My only complaint was the high reving engine and the tranny that down shifted at the sight of a distant hill!! I also now drive a Safari Cheetah, with the C7 Cat and Allison 6 speed. The diesel pusher has much better ride and stability, but I'm not sure the 1st cost and maintenance cost is worth twice the gasser cost for the sometimes user. Just my opinion, and, it's worth what it cost

X2 on the Windsong. Replace plugs, wires, fuel and air filter change. Change all fluids and have samples sent out for analysis (Blackstone lab in IN is great and fast). That 8.1 Chevy and Allison trans is a great combo. Good quiet dependable power. My last MH had the same set up and I drove it for 10 years.

I am learning to hate MH shopping...
On a better note. I just took a deposit on my 1996 Pace Arrow Vision that I had FS
Now I am also looking at a
2004 SAFARI SIMBA by Monaco
Vortec 8.1 with Allison
75000 kms / 46,600 miles
Price is pretty firm at 38,000 Canadian $ / $30,000 USD
Any comments
