45' fuel consumption??
Just morbid curiosity, the 500 hp 45 footers, are they a 4-5 mpg unit or do they do better? Spotted a Beaver 45' with a 505 Cat. Probably
Can't afford to feed and clothe the thing but it 's fun to think about. Anybody have a general estimate?

450 hp Cummins ISL ( not quite the 500 hp) 42 ft ( again not quite 45 ft) running 65 mph with a GVWR of 46,500 lbs. towing a Kia Soul ( 2800 lbs.) we get 7.8 - 8.1. The two biggest factors I've found are your speed and the wind direction.

Ours is 43 ft at 44,000 towing a pickup with motor cycle in the bed grossing out at 51,000. And we get between 7-8 mpg driving at 62-64 mph. That is the determining factor. How fast you want to push it thru the wind.

The last post is right on. Wind is a large determining factor in fuel usage. I have a scanguage D on my unit and I can see the affects of headwinds, tailwinds and speed. I adjust my speeds accordingly. Good luck. Seeya on the road.

On our new Tiffin RED I have found that not the speed but the RPM will dictate mileage. I have driven at 55 and gotton lower mileage than at 64 because of shifting points. Running with the "Economy" switch on is now automatic.

45' 2002 Monaco Signature w/toad(46k total lbs) @ 60 mph = 7-8mpg.

We do fair on fuel, djbmsu hit it. We have found for ours if I keep it out of 5th gear we do OK. Also have ScandaugeD and have found out we get better fuel mileage not on cruise control. I still use it occasionally though. There are sooo many variables to the question it is hard to answer.

Speed and a head wind will hurt mpg the most.
