Replaced it with a run of the mill standard RV plug replacement you find everywhere
That was in 2007

It has been plugged into a Portable PI Surge/EMS exposed to every type of weather condition since.
Heavy Rains, Sleet, Hail, Snow, Ice, Dust storms, Hot temps/freezing temps while FTng for 7 yrs
Never had an issue with it what so ever.....until last week when I cut cord when I ran over it with lawn mower (been driving over it for several years but hey I messed up)

So cord is a couple feet shorter and replaced plug with a new run of the mil standard 50A plug available most every where RV stuff is sold

RVGUARD NEMA 14-50P RV Replacement Male Plug
Bright Green ----Oh Yeah!
Your missing about 7 years of the story, Sailor!!!

You could always cover the joint with Gorilla Tape.

I'm also a proponent of a hard wired surge protector/EMS like Progressive's. I see that some of Progressive's plug-in units have a weatherproof box to protect your cord's plug.

You won't find a weatherproof replacement plug for an RV or for any cord for that matter, only the original molded one is weatherproof but even then it is not a weatherproof connection without a cover on the pedestal. Do not worry, it will work fine and will probably overheat and melt long before it gets affected by any weather. Do not try and seal with silicone unless you leave the bottom open or you will just end up trapping moisture inside. You could pump it full of silicone but what a mess that would be and for no benefit other than holding in the heat....

Yeah … like I said earlier, it occurred to me that sealing it might be a mistake because of the risk of trapped moisture.

Thank you all for your input. I am going to go with the unsealed clamshell, and dielectric grease on the connections.

Old biscuit … if that cord was pulling amps when you hit it with the lawnmower, the fireworks must have been interesting… [emoji4]

Yep...plugged into 30A Receptacle on side driveway
Breaker tripped so I didn't see the flash as it was under the 42" deck on my rider mower
But when that anaconda cord wrapped around the blades it stalled the mower.
Event took maybe 1 second total at most
