96 American Eagle questions

My wife and I are proud owners of a 1996 40 ft, American Eagle, riding on a Gillig chassis. Our toad is a 2009 Ford Flex on a ACME dolly with surge disc brakes. We have owned this coach for 5 yrs.and most of our issues have been things just wearing out.My latest issue is my cruise control. We were cruising down the road, cruise control on and hit a huge pothole, cruise control shut off instantly and has not worked since.it is the only thing that quit working.I checked all the fuses (I can't find a fuse dedicated to cruise control only),looked under dash and don't see any plugs off or anything obvious.I am hesitant to take it to a shop here(did I mention I am in Canada)as the only place is a truck shop.any info on this would be greatly appreciated.Question 2.I had the front air bags replaced last year after one blew and was wondering if the rears are the same, the mechanic thinks they are but can't be sure until he has one off,it took a month last time.I have no info on the Gillig chassis and neither does the mechanic.I will be in FT Myers(Red Coconut) in November, for a couple weeks and back Feb.,March ,Apr..anyone know of a good shop down there?thanks,If you are @ the Red coconut this winter stop and say hello.96 Eagle ,white ,no stripes or decals, red flex.thanks again.John and Diane.

Call American Coach, 800-435-7345 and they should be able to tell you the air bag you need? If not, they will refer you to someone that should be able to tell you the air bag.

We had trouble similar to your post, ie: cutting off, with our cruise control on our 1999 Discovery. It turned out to be the "stalk" on the steering column. Took the "stalk" off the column and proceeded to "wash" the switch on the end of the stalk with electronic cleaner solvent to clean the contacts. Worked the switch on and off. So far so good. That was about a year ago.
Hope this might help you.

I had a 96 Eagle and my cruise switch mounted on the left was toggle switch. It went bad and I replaced it with the best I could find, solved mine.
