97 F53 460 w/ Rotella R6 5w40

Hey guys,

I have a 97 F53 chassis with the 460 with 11,000 miles. I just got it so I donít know what oil was in it but it had a Ford filter and the oil looked surprisingly clean. Today I put a Mobil 1 filter in it and Rotella R6 5w40. I was wondering what you guys think of this oil for my motor and miles. The book calls for 10w30 or 5w30. Thanks!

Shell T6 full syn. oil is formulated for diesel engines, that said, it will probably be fine for your 460 gas engine as the diesel oils are usually a better grade oil! All you can do is see if your 460 likes it or not, since you have already put it in!

T6 goes in everything I own, generators/motorcycles/tractor/D-Max/kia/etc. Whenever it's on sale I buy it buy the case. Never any issue with any engine for over 10 years.

Oil for the 460

Our 1998 Bounder 36S was built on a 1997 Ford chassis with the fuel injected 460. I changed the oil myself its whole life with us up to 107K miles, always used a K&N racing type filter and a good quality 10W30 oil. It must have loved the 10W30 as it hardly used any oil between changes. Usually changed at 5K mile interval or as close as possible. It is sitting in the back yard and will go on sale soon, hopefully to go to a kind owner.

The absolute best motor oil in the world for your engine is the one that meets the manufactures minimum recommendations AND the oil that you like...

Personally, I run old dead dinosaur 5w30 that meets Fords minimum specification in mine. I change oil and filter at 5k mile intervals..

It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.

xbigblue Thank You,
As a CCI service dog team since August 2011 we would not have been able to have been a team without the efforts and dedication of the many puppy trainers out there. Your efforts and dedication make it possible. By the way 10w30 in our 1998 Ford 460.
Thank You
Mel and CCI Service Dog Baila

Smile Thanks for the roses

Amazing, all the places there are where a CCI Team resides. We are on our third pup, first one is a Golden serving as a hearing dog; second is a black lab type in professional training now; and third, is Lily, yellow lab type, 8 months old. We love doing what we do, Elaine is the primary raiser and I just kind of follow her lead.
