A/C Gen problem

hi, hope somebody can help me out here. i have a 2004 winn vectra 34td with basement a/c and a diesel 7599 onan gen. my problem is when i run my a/c with my gen it kicks off when a/c compressor goes on, the amps read around 34 when it kills the gen. is this normal for gen to kick off at that amp or is this amp normal for the a/c unit?, i have done the gen service and i have replaced the 4 a/c capacitors. can the gen be set to take a higher amp rating or do i have a compressor problem with the a/c unit.last time i ran it at a park on 50 circuit the a/c ran fine , only problem is with the gen . any help would be appreciated thanks

Have you replaced the generator fuel filter ?

If the amp draw was to much for the generator, the breaker should trip.

Was going to post that the genset beaker might have become weak but then I reread the original post and see that it's the genset itself that's going down. Not sure if 34 amps is high or not but even if it is, that shouldn't stall the genset. Sounds like the issue here is with the it, twinboat may have pegged it..

High initial amp draw from an A/C is often an indication of a bad capacitor.

Not expensive.

If filters are good, then a fuel restriction in the line, a lose connection allowing air into the line, or the governor is not advancing the throttle when a load is applied.

Carefully check the line from tank to generator.
