Adjusting PTL Door Hold Open mechanism

Had to replace my PTL Engineering Door Hold Open mechanism. oThe latch pin on the new bar is down too far and often interferes with the top of the door when closing the door. I'm sure I have the right replacement part as I purchased from Tiffin while we were in Red Bay. I'm also sure I have the bar installed correctly (pin down & pin side bar attached to door frame) per PTL replacement video.
Anyone run into this or have any suggestions?
I've tried gently bending the bar - that didn't work.
My next thought is to remove and reinstall the bar with a layer or two of duct tape in the right place to create a slim shim where the bar attaches to the door and to the frame.
Any other suggestions appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Ed

This looks like the same "scissor arm" I have on my HR Imperial (Monaco) except the dimensions might be different.
I added a gas strut. It's actually cheaper and works much better than the scissor arm. I left the scissor arm in place as a backup.

You might want to see if that works on yours.

Lowflyer1 - Thanks for the suggestion. I would not have thought of using a gas strut to replace the folding bar. But once you see it it's an obvious better long term solution. I will definitely keep it as my plan B.

BTW, do you have a source or link to the brackets?

Low flyer had a PDF link that described what you need. I bought mine from Amazon and it works great as my old bar actually failed entirely.

Yeah, I ended up getting these from Amazon:
RV Designer G24, Gas Prop Door Support, 20 inch, 15 lb. Load Capacity, Exterior$17.06
JR Products BR-12552 10mm Angled Gas Spring Mounting Bracket $10.18
JR Products BR-12553 10mm Angled Gas Spring Mounting Bracket $13.82
Amazon pic shows the brackets unpainted but they were already black.

The screws I got from local hw store.
I just coated the screws in black rust-oleum or something like that.

Thank you. I'll be ordering the gas strut and mounting hw next time we stop for a week or longer as my backup/long term solution.
As a temporary fix/workaround I dismounted the folding bar and slightly bent it over my knee and also installed a 4x folded piece of duct tape on the leading edge of the top mounting bracket as a slim shim. This is working at least for now.
Thanks for all the suggestions
