Air bag leveling

Greeting all,
I’m a long time RVer but brand new to the class A world. Recently bought. 2022 Tiffin 38LL and have had it in Freightliner repair shop more than I’ve had it at home. Current issue, the leveling system uses air bags only, which is fine, but every morning the bus has lowered to a point where the stairs have scraped the ground to extend a couple times. When I start the bus dash alarms go off declaring Low volt(even though I’m plugged into a 30amp power source at the house) and Low Air( both sides show zero air pressure on dash and then starts building pressure until it reaches 75 psi at which the alarm goes off and it continues building pressure to around 150. Surely this is not normal…. Anybody have experience with this???? Thanks in advance

First off, Welcome to IRV2!

The quick loss of air pressure is definitely not normal. All air suspension coaches will lose air over a period of days or weeks, but not overnight. There is a leak somewhere large enough to drain the pressure more than the air leveling system can replenish.

On the second concern, the low voltage warning is completely normal. There is an intake air heater grid that warms incoming air. This grid draws a large amount of power and will cause the low voltage warning to come on. As soon as the engine starts and the alternator takes over everything returns to normal.

I'm reading your issue differently....it sounds like you have air leveling only, no jacks. When using the air leveling system, your coach drops overnight. Air leveling systems use an electric pump to keep the tanks topped off and the coach level.

From your description, it sounds like you have a large air leak and your electric pump is running overtime. It could be draining your batteries, but if you're plugged in, the charger should be charging the batteries.

What are the temps where the coach is parked. Your engine uses a grid heater, inside the engine to warm it during cold morning starts. As the heater cycles, it can trigger a low voltage light on dash, for a few seconds.

Is your charger turned on? The leveling system pump could be draining the batteries if it's trying to correct for an air leak.

There have been a number of coaches where Tiffin failed to connect power to the electric compressor located next to the generator.

Coach drops significantly overnight but I have never heard the small electric pump come on ever….. I have read threads where people are aggravated with the noise of the pump in the middle of the night that I have never heard. I believe that may be the reason.
