Air Bag replacement when?

We have 2002 Winnebago Journey on freighter custom chassis.

Been doing various maintenance and updates.

I looked at he bags wondered when a service life is on them. I see they are 4 ply.

Just curious everyones life experience with them

Airbags?????
or are you talking about tires?

Airbags no maintenance.
Tires yes. How old are the 4 ply tires?
Look at the DOT Date melted into the sidewall of the tire.

I replaced mine last year as they were 20 yrs old just for piece of mind. Visual inspection is the key.. Look for cracking etc. Mine still looked OK but coach has been stored inside it's whole life.

A few things can determine suspension air bag replacement. Where and how coach is stored, type of climate etc... There's no regular replacement schedule on an RV.

However, Inspection should be part of your regular maintenance program. Look for age/weather checks/cracks, abrasion marks and any leaks at air lines/valves related to them.

I replaced mine (1999 Eagle) last year. Coach was always stored inside a barn on concrete floor, in Florida. This is what they looked like at 16 years & 85,000 milesClick image for larger version

Not a terrible job to replace, rears are a snap, front a little longer job...

The air springs in the pic were NOT blown out or leaking, replaced strictly due to the cracks you see....
