Air bags, levelers, and steps - a question

I have my first RV with air bag suspension, and it has led to a question. If I level the thing with the levelers, it winds up pretty high for the front steps. When the air is dumped, the steps are a great level, but the levelers are not down. The instructions for the manufacturer are to set the levelers with the engine running, then operate the slides, still with the engine running (one of the slides is hydraulic).

So, what happens if I 1) dump the air with the engine still running, then 2) run the levelers (will they work at that low level?), and then put out the slides?

Most with auto levelors, including myself, report that "automatic" brings the rig up too high.

Most levelors have a manual setting, it took some searching to find out my power gear's needed me to holg the manual button down for about 5 seconds before the manual light would lite.

try this:

Park the rig, shut down the diesel, and plug it in. (note my rig is perfectly happy plugging in last, but if you need the power....)
Go back inside, turn the key on but don't start it.
Dump the air. I usually stroke the brake pedal to speed things up
Put the slides out.
Put the leveling system in manual.
Front first, jack to the ground plus 3 inches.
Both rear jacks to level front rear
one side to level side to side.
Touch up the front if needed.

I've found this method will get me level very low.

On my Winnebago, when I turn the HWH levelers on, it automatically dumps the air bags, engine running or not.
