I have a Class C license what do I need to do if anything? I had to send an email to TDPS may get an answer may not. You can't speak to a person when you call all you get is recorded messages. I am not sure what you are looking for. I think alot of U.S. states do not require an air brake endorsement but some do. Most Provinces in Canada you do require a air brake endorsement. I would check with your local D.M.V. They also may have material for you to read up on it.
Truck driving schools usually will do an air brake course as well.
Hope this is helpful>

I'm not sure what you need in Texas, but going to an air brake class may turn out to be very handy if you have any air system problems in the future.
Understanding your air system is a good thing. Surprising how many DP owners don't have a clue about their own rig's brakes.

Happy Glamping.

My state, and probably others will let you take the written CDL test, likely you can find the questions on the net. Even if your state does not require you to get the endorsement the vehicle may give you a test. All in all, it is better to know than not...

You are going to need a class B license. I think its chapter 14 you need to study in the handbook. You will also need to take a driving test with your motorhome

You will need to go by your state of residency requirements. Nothing else matters since there is reciprocity in all states. Be legal at home and you're legal everywhere.

Kvm1970 is correct. You need to get a Class B non-commercial license if you are in TX as your profile says. Drop by the DMV license office and grab a handbook. Study Chp 14, then take your written test. (I think you take an eye test at this point also). When you pass, you schedule a driving test (I think you have 30 days after the written test). This assumes that you will not be towing a trailer over 10,000lbs.

Here in Ontario, you need a Z air brake endorsement to drive air brakes. Here are five practice tests from Ontario. Between the five tests, you have all the info that is required to pass. I just kept taking the five tests over and over, until I got 100 percent each time. I went and wrote my test at the mto, and got 100 percent. At the very least, its information every person who drives an air brake system should know. Cheers.

Air Brake Endorsements

Thanks everyone so glad someone from Texas chimed in since I live in Texas that information was helpful. But just for your info they no longer give out books everything is online and they had no information at all on their web site for RV's except the weight and class, but did not explain anything. Tried to call can't talk to a person and none of their prompts were for RV's either. I think I will complain to them about that! Still not sure how we take a driving test when you can not drive the motorhome until you have it and I don't know anyone that owns one, so this will be interesting. My husband had a CDL years ago said if he had not been thru a CDL school that supplied the truck you would have to borrow one from someone that was already there. They make it as complicated as possible.

Just drive the MH to the testing facility. They won’t ask how you got there. Make sure to have a license plate on the front and have your insurance certificate.

They must be a lot more lenient in Texas than New York. When you pull up you have to someone with you with the proper license they look at their license before they begin the test.

Almost all school bus drivers have a Class B CDL. In CO and possibly every other state the CDL license doesn't have an air brakes endorsement but has an air brakes restriction if the holder has not passed the written and driving tests for air brakes.
Most school bus drivers have several hours of free time in the middle of the day between morning and afternoon runs. Some are usually hanging around waiting and schmoozing and would likely love to have a free lunch and a few bucks for their time.
I would start at the local school bus terminal lounge and ask the dispatcher on duty if they could help you out.

Class B with airbrake endorsement in Texas is correct. It’s not a CDL but same test. Avoid Garland office at all costs, they’re idiots. Also note that there are only 25 cities (as of a year ago) that you can take the driving test so check with the local DMV office. Two years ago the wait was 6 weeks in Terrell/Canton. I took the written class A in Terrell-had to wait for Canton to do the drive. Good luck.
