If I could add additional info about the 50A ext cord; I would maybe wait until Camping World, PPL, Tweetys or someone else has them on sale. They are usually a 15-20 footer 50A cord and can sometimes be had for a good price when on sale. The regular price of this cord ain't cheap.

Sounds like a good plan for the extension cord. I appreciate all the responses. The new drive is almost finished, so I will have her safe and at home in just over a week...then I can really get AR about getting her prepped out!

I am in Mico TX, northwest of San Antonio near Medina Lake, where are you guys at?

A 50ft 50A cord is a lot of cord, and it is not cheap. I carry 100ft of 12 gauge regular extension in 2 50ft sections. For most of our camping it is all we need - mostly because we don't do much in the really hot weather where we would need the AC units. I've never needed it at a camp ground, once at a state fair ground I actually needed the extra foot I got from using my 30A adapter (it was just enough).

The 12 gauge cords will carry 20A, which combined with the batteries for high load situations is plenty, and I can use them for other things as well. The 50A cord is really only useful for one thing, for plugging into a 50A supply that you can't get close to, which happens very infrequently. Most 50A supplies are on a pedestal in a camp ground, located where your MH will reach.
