Air-conditioner availability

I have been waiting for over a year now, and working through two different RV repair companies to get a new Dometic air conditioner for our 2015 42QD but with no luck.

Are these guys pulling my leg or just hard to locate. I still see advertisers, such as Camping World offering them on a regular basis. But, you call them and they want to place you on a waiting list.

Is anyone out there have having the same luck, if not please let me know or who to call...

has a video where he is installing a unit that is backward compatible with some of the roof top units including the thermostate and ducting.

Might speed things up and save some money.

This is not good news. Our coach is in an independent shop for a rear ac replacement and upgrade to a 15K btu Demetric low profile w/heat pump. The one in stock was incompatible with the digital system and has a newer model on order. No mention of any delays. Having two new slide seals installed during the wait time. I may have to put the RV back in inside storage if the led time is too long. Fingers crossed.

Best of luck with yours.

There is a major shortage of A/C units industry wide. A few months ago, Tiffin had over 200 finished coaches waiting on A/C units.

I bought 2 new high capacity 15K BTU units from PPL back in Sept, took 5 days to get to my house TX to TN.

I called them first to confirm they would fit my application and that they had them in stock. Ordered them the next day, which was the las dy they were on sale.

When out front AC went out in October, the repair guy said he had been waiting over two months on a heat pump style. He was able to call around and find a replacement for me, but it's a basic 13.5btu unit.

PPL Motor Home parts has been able to get new Dometic air conditioners. Search the PPL parts web page and decide which unit you need (heat pump, Brisk Air, low profile Penguin, or the new NXT).
Then call them directly: (713) 988-5555

For Scenic Route: The new Dometic A/C units require a retrofit control board to function with the older 5 button Comfort Control thermostat. The alternative is to replace both A/C units simultaneously with new and also install the new 10 button Comfort Control II thermostat.

A couple of months ago, my service manager said, "Just be glad it's not one of your A/Cs." Demand is way up, supply is down, and the OEMs are getting everything because they are the volume buyers.

So I'd say no. They aren't pulling your leg.

Back in August I ordered a 13500BTU RV AC for my boat from a vendor stating it was in stock .

2 days later they informed me that actually I'm now on a waiting list for when stock arrives, otherwise it could take 9 or more months to get.

I canceled the order and found another vendor who actually had one in stock. Got it 5 days later.

See what model you need and do your own shopping. If you find one, let the dealer know and work from there. Buy it and bring it to them if you have to.

I've been waiting 8 months for a 15k BTU Coleman Mach 8 heat pump from NIRVC. I hear you can get an AC unit pretty quickly. As long as I still have 2 working units, I'm holding out for a heat pump. The Dometic Penguin heat pump is available from several locations.

I got two Penguin IIs by Dometic from camping world earlier this year. Good price and fast shipping. FedEx delivered a smashed box the first time and CW replaced it and arranged to have the damaged unit picked up. They are showing them in stock right now.
