Air Dump

We just moved from fifth wheeling to a motorhome. I am trying to find out if my 2006 Damon Tuscany should dump the air suspension before leveling. The RV'ers we camp with regularly seem to believe it should Does anyone have any concrete advise here.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Welcome to iRV2.

Dumping your air suspension , brings the coach approx 4" closer to the ground , so the levelers don't have to extend as far to get to the ground and gives another 4 " of travel to the levelers ( if required due to off level site ) to get the coach to level.

If you have an automatic leveling system ; dumping is the first thing that happens when you start the system.

Yes. And that is what my owners manual says. You should dump the air bags before leveling. Just think. Put the jacks down, and then dump the bags. Every bit of weight is then on the jacks, plus think how much further you have to extend them to level. I am a believer in keeping my jack extensions as short as possible. Less stress and leverage on them. Also. If you dump the bags first, the coach is closer to the ground. I like mine as low as possible. Look at the TT that put down stabilizer jacks but can't dump. Many take 3 steps at least to get down. I have one step. Dump bags, level coach, my one step is just enough.

There is also debate on whether the slides should be in or out before leveling. There are pro's and cons to both. Mine says to level, then put the slides out, but others say to put slides out then level. Follow what the manual says.
