Air Suspension

I have a Thor 37 ft Challenger on a Ford F-53 chassie. I would like to put air suspension on it. I've been looking into the Kelderman system, does anyone know of another system that would have the same results. I'm looking for a better ride.
Thanks for your help

If you go to the RV.net class A forum there are 2 on there who have added the Kelderman system recently. One is Holstein13 and I think the other is Goldencrazy. You can find them by doing a search for Kelderman inthe search panel. Both had F53 chassis.

I actually looked at and read the directions for those...
The system makes no sense at all.

Regardless, anything that ADDS an airbag to the stock original leaf spring will INCREASE the spring rate, and make the ride rougher, always.

If you want more ride ht, have a shop re-arch the stock springs, this will increase the hieght without increasing the spring rate.

If you want a smoother ride, and/or an adjustable suspension, use a system that uses a different, softer leaf spring, or removes leafs from the factory spring to reduce the spring rate, and then uses an air bag to adjust the ht and ride.

again, adding an air bag to the factory leaf can add rt ht at the expense of a stiffer ride, but nothing else.

The rv systems from kelderman may be different but I thought many of them replaced the leaf springs or at least changed the attach points.

Some of the ones I have seen add an airbag at the rear between the leaf spring hanger and the frame. This style could help ride quality in a couple of different ways.

If the application for your chassis is just a matter of placing a bag between the axle and frame, it will make your suspension stiffer. However, this can improve ride quality even though the suspension is tighter. If your current springs are too soft it will make the rear of the vehicle feel bouncy and un-controllable. Even the simplest system can add ride comfort by bringing control back to a suspension. Higher spring rate or not.

JimM68,
The Kelderman does replace the stock springs with a softer spring also replaces the shocks with Monroe shocks.

Thanks for your input, I have some serious thinking to do before I spend $$$
