Air System

Hello all. I bought a 2005 Alfa that is on a freightliner chassis X. I bought from an auction and it is a salvage from a fire. Not terrible. The tow company cut the front air line to tie into for releasing brakes, but I can't find where it goes. I started and the air comes out the bottom of the collector by the engine. It is threader so I feel there is a bolt that goes in there, but bought bolts 3/4" fine and standard and neither will thread in.

My question is does freightliner have a diagram of their air system and anyone know the type of plug that goes in there.

If it needs to feed air should it be a banjo bolt? Or a npt?

Freightliner, help line should still be releasing the information you need.

1-800-FTL-HELP , Have your serial number handy, it’s the first thing they ask for .

The air system dryer by the transmission, if air is coming out the bottom, the purge valve is stuck and needs service.

Air lines and tanks are connected with pipe fittings. Bolts are for connecting things together like a hydraulic jack to the frame. two different threads.

Sounds like the wrecker driver removed a water drain valve from the bottom of an air storage tank to screw in his supply line. Freightliner air diagrams search.

I’m with Ray on your problem. Here’s my guess.
Are you sure the air line was cut? Likely the tow truck guy released that line from a fitting and left it hang. Then he removed the fitting so he could put in a nipple for his air line. It’s a salvage unit so what does he care. He took his nipple and air hose out, when done, and went on his way. Now you need a connector that the air line plugs into. It will be a “pipe thread” fitting obtained at a truck supply shop. Look carefully at the outside end of the air line to see if it looks like it may have been in a fitting.
