Allison Transmission Shift Pad

I have a 95 Beaver Patriot with an Allison automatic controlled by a WTECII (model # 29507949) shift pad. I'm having great difficulty getting it to engage in DRIVE (D). All other functions work smoothly. Does this cover snap off or do I need to remove the entire assembly in order to access the electronics and clean the contacts. Thanks in advance....

I just had my shift control repaired by John, it's like a brand new one now.
