Aluminum Wheel trouble

All of a sudden our polished aluminum wheels are attracting birds and the are using them as a bathroom. Only thing I can think of is to get wheel covers. Anyone else had this problem.

The type of bird deterrent may depend on the bird. However, I use these metal spikes and spider on my boat in a marine environment with success:https://www.birdbgone.com/stainless-...pigeon-spikes/ and https://www.birdbgone.com/bird-spider-360/. Other options, besides wheel covers, to consider include repellent and others discussed in this article: https://www.thayerbirding.com/stop-b...ooping-on-car/.

It's Spring time and mating season. The birds are looking at themselves in the reflective surface and can leave a real mess.
Yesterday I parked next to a car that a bird which had been roosting on the mirror while it looked at its reflection in the door glass. The mess on the mirror was thick, also down the side of the car.
Yes, cover the wheels.

Well, consider yourself lucky. At least it’s not a woodpecker up on your steel roof at 6am. Honestly though, the wheels? That’s a new one.
Yep, cover them.

I have the SS trim along the bottom edge of my coach. For a few weeks, while stored at home, I had one crazy bird that kept seeing himself in the SS and kept pecking at it. I had to polish out the marks. Like stated above, it was just during spring. I would rather clean off bird crap that polish SS.

That’s one tough bird if he’s putting dings in SS.

It scratched it just enough you had to polish it out. He went to bird heaven!

I have bronzed mirror side windows. The female cardinals seem to be the most defensive of their territory. Often doing battle in my driveway toward tree side of MH. Here's big old wood pecker. He was so funny looking straight at himself then one side and the other. Not a great pic but through two double pane mirror windows as window was open. My terrier Chihuahua noticed him before I could get a closer pic. Click image for larger version

Sprintparts,
Well Sir, don't over think this. First off, how long has this been going on? That is a rear wheel. Are they doing this on both sides? In any case, take the simple approach. Go find some card board or maybe even some discarded cheap-o plywood and make some pieces just large enough to lean up against the outsides of the wheels that would cover around 3/4 or so of the opening of your aluminum. You don't have to cover the tire too.

Just enough to cover the aluminum so they get deterred. Once they figure out they've lost the battle, they'll move on. Get a rock or a brick and put it against the cardboard or plywood so any wind doesn't knock it over. DONE!

put a dish of cat food near the rear wheel. Maybe the neighbors cat can help with your issue.

I have a neighbor that had a nesting problem in the frame of his raised F250. Even though he cleared it several times, and even moved the truck to the other end of our street, they still found his truck. I think he resorted to a Daisy BB gun...
