American Guardian Warranty Services extended warranties
Has anyone ever purchased an extended warranty for their RV from American Guardian Warranty Services (AGWS)? I was quoted a decent price from a dealership for a 6 or 7 year Exclusionary contract from AGWS but just checking on any problems with this company before committing for that long a contract on my new 2015 diesel coach.

I had their repair policy on a coach about 10 years ago and had no complaints. Had just one claim in 4 years (dash HVAC system) and it was handled with no issues.
I will also note that the coach had a lot of problems, but only one of them was covered by the service plan. Most of the problems were interior cabinet & trim, poorly assembled components, even faulty plumbing. Many were fixed under factory warranty, but the rest were items not covered by the plan, either because no part was actually broken or it was excluded.

I have American Guardian and have used it a lot. They have paid for a new turbo and Aqua Hot control module. They also paid for my generator repairs and a Monaco radiator fan module. They have a set hourly rate for labor and there own idea of how long a repair will take and you will have to make up the difference. The most important thing is to have the shop call prior to doing the work, as stated in the contract. I had one shop who didn't do that and it turned into a big hassle. The most frustrating thing is that if it's an expense repair, chances are that the will want to have one of their reps inspect and approve it. That can take a few days and you are stuck in the mean time.

You might find this article from Escapees Magazine about extended warranties to be helpful as you evaluate your options.

I know these plans cost more when going through an RV dealership but it seems that's the only way American Guardian is sold. They gave me two different dealerships here in Oklahoma to get a quote on my 2015 Dutch Star and they differed quite a bit. For a 5 year 75,000 mile $100 deductible contract i was quoted $7,000 at one place and $3,983 from another.
I'm not sure how to determine if they are both selling me the same product with the same type of coverage. When I originally looked for USA Travel Care (at the suggestion from a Newmar tech) . on the Internet I got AGWS and then found out they also sell under Compass Protection Plan. On the USA web site I was able to print off a copy of their Platinum Plan so I'm guessing that's the only Plan AGWS sells.

American Guardian Warranty Services extended warranties
Before you buy, give wholesale warranties a call!
I am looking at them as well as GS right now. WW seem to get better feedback, if you can call it that
Good luck

WW quoted the longest contract for my 2015 DS as 6 yr 70,000 $200 deductible at $6,073, while AGWS had a 6 yr 60,000 mile for $4,440. I was more interested in longer time and not so much in more mileage and AGWS had the 7 yr 50,000 mile for $4,790 which WW did not offer anything longer than 6 years.
Wholesale Warranty sales personnel seemed more interested in selling a contract but guess they should at over $1,500 higher priced. Course maybe I'd be getting just what I paid for.
I've had a couple of other extended warranty contracts over the years and never heard of one that only would pay a certain amount for each repair like was stated for AGWS. That would be kind of scary in case of a complete engine/tranny failure.
