AND Another One!

What do ya'll think?

https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/...364295351.html

Just talked to the owner for quite a long time. They bought it 5 years ago and have put about 10K miles on it. They didn't baby it, but seemed to take relatively good care. Had a leak in the middle of the living area fixed 2 years ago. Had the steering box and tie rods replaced in 2016. New tires in 2016, Brakes at 55%. Clearcoat over the white areas is peeling off. 2 solar panels not working. No exterior damage. They stored it at RV storage but NOT undercover.

Thanks!

This is an old coach, no slides! It was a good coach for their time. Have some experienced RV tech look this coach over! Pay close attention to anything rubber. Tires were replaced in 2016, but what are the date codes on the tires. ( DOT codes) Tires could have been older when installed. Tires subjected to weather 6 or 7 years max life.

Spend a little more find a coach well-loved with slides.

In 19+ years, we have not had a single trip affected by problems with the slide-outs.

Probably because we have none!

Thank you! It is older than we would prefer, actually by about 10 years. I would really rather not have slides as there is less to go wrong. What we buy needs to get me, dependably, from Oregon to Tennessee and then live comfortably in TN for about 6 months. We'd like to use it after that but it's not a requirement.

In fifteen years we have not had any trips affected by problems with slides, either. And we have four.

Exactly......

Slides make a small RV larger.

Think of them as 'Transformers' .....

Very true. But slides add weight, nothing's free. I'm full timing it for a while and love the slides, weight be dogged. Love the wd too. If you're gonna full time it, think strongly about a wd.

I actually really like this coach. But I strongly suggest you get a full inspection with all of the fluids and batteries checked. The price seems right even if you had to put in $5,000 to replace the tires, shocks, fluids/filters.... you will still have a nice girl who will take you to all kinds of adventures for years to come. Best of all.....no DEF issues!!!

Let us know what you decide.

Gillig chassis good, Detroit motor good, Country Coach good. You are close to it so make a day trip and go see it in person. From the pix, it looks like a nice coach.
I would probably replace the tires even tho they are only 6 years old. If the coach hasn't been driven that much, the tires age that much faster

That's music to my ears! I haven't had any problems in the 30 months that I've owned mine, but I hold my breath every time the slides go in or out.

I know this is a DP, but it still seems like a lot of money to me for a '96 with that many miles and no slides. In 2019 I paid just under $24k for my 2004 Workhorse W-22 (gas) Dolphin with two slides and only 13k miles on it. Then again, it's a seller's market since Covid, so maybe that explains it.

What is a wd? I just know I'm going to feel silly when you tell me.

Yep, washer/dryer. Mine is a single unit that does both, no need to move the clothes from the washer to the dryer. I just left the rig for another wonderful day at work (ugh, that word!) and started a load of clothes from the last few days. When I get home, they'll be dry-ish. Then I put them on a drying rack for the night and ta-daa, clean clothes without hanging out in a laundry mat for an hour or more, where other people have been washing their underwear. Every two days, another load, in my own personal, private wd.

I would never even consider a motorhome that has had a leak. You do not know how long it was leaking (the owner does not even know) and what damage was done inside the walls - to whether there is still mold or mildew or fungus (rot) growing in there.

Only a few people will tell you there is no reason to avoid motorhomes that have had leaks. 98% of those are people who have motorhomes that have had leaks.

Pass. (with a capital P).
