I have another question concerning the steel plate in the cockpit area. Do I glue the underlayment to it? I didn't want to take the carpet out, but it was just plain nasty (16 yrs old). I might put carpet just in that area.

sure- adhere it to the steel, if you can clean the old carpet and pad up sufficiently as to insure a good bond

Surprisingly, the carpet was NOT glued, kinda just laying on top. Thanks a lot for the response.

Urethane adhesives
Finally getting around to doing the carpet replacement with engineered flooring. I read the entire post and urethane adhesives is recommended. Is there a particular brand better than others? Is it applied from a caulk type gun or brushed? Can I get the adhesive at Lowes or Home Depot?
Thanks for all the help this forum provides.

Urethane adhesive comes in pails- various capacities. Trowel it on the back of the boards. The trowel patterns are in the instructions. Do not walk on the planks - just add some pressure so that the adhesive comes in contact with the floor, as the boards will walk on you. Install a few rows of planks one day- make sure that all is square, and weight them down with a box of wood. Leave them overnight. Next day- they will be rock solid and you can install lots of material

I would add that you will want mineral spirits or something to help cleanup. The adhesive can get messy and can be tough to cleanup off your hands or anything it touches. I purchased some of the expensive wipes specifically for cleanup of the adhesive. They were handy when something accidentally got adhesive on it.

lacquer thinner, it evaporates with no residue and white rags. Put thinner on rags

Looks Great. Couple of questions? What is the flooring material? Was material thickness a problem? How far under the slide did you put the material. Any problems with the slide on the material. Looks great. Ed
