Another TSD card question

When we were in Canada this summer, we used the TSD card at PetroPass card lock stations. No discount, but high speed trucker pumps and no hassle filling were worth the transaction fee. Oddly, we couldn’t find TSD discount stations in Alaska, and had to do the “insert credit card three times to get the fuel” game. The Card Lock app shows us where the card was accepted and where discounts are.

Ok so an update on my question a few posts back about using the TSD/openroads app at stations that are not listed on open roads but are listed on the EFS/WEX, I did get an email back but it was not as informative as the person answering the phone. In my case, they have suspend the Quick fill group from the app because they QF owed TSD money, something about them not clearing transactions quickly.

Regarding the information i was seeing regarding discounts on the EFS app, the person said that EFS had not yet updated their app and you cannot expect a discount. You can use your card at that location but you will end up paying retail.

So Bottom line the most accurate up to date info is on the Openroads app, and you cannot trust the EFS app for discount accuracy.

QF may be added back to the program if they get their accounting fixed.

Another question: does anyone know why you can’t typically activate the pumps at truck stops using your credit card? I really don’t like leaving my card at the fuel desk.

To answer your first question... yes, the TSD card will activate at non-participating dealers. I used it a couple of times at Pilot/Flying J on my recent 3+ month trip. You don't get any discount and you are charged a $1.00 out of network fee.

Regarding your second question, I've never left my CC at a fuel desk. I preauthorize an amount that I know will exceed my fillup costs. I get teh receipt for that amount. After pumping I then go back in and get a revised receipt with the actual amount pumped.
