If you Google "irv2 caravans" you will get a lot of ideas.
Caravans are too structured for us. We prefer to explore alone. No alarm clocks, no schedules!

I am going on an Alaskan Caravan with WIT Club. Winnebago International Travel. It will be my first, but spoke to did it last summer said it was great.

Fantasy has an AK "your way" in which the travel plans and reservations for RV parks are made but everything else is up to you. We did that trip this last summer and really enjoyed it. The wagon master will give suggestions at each destination for interesting things to do. Could be fishing trips, glaciers to see, museums, etc., but each person can decide what to do or not to do. This type of caravan you don't pay for a bunch of stuff you don't want to do. Frankly I would never do one of the "all encompassed" trips, but those appeal to some people. To each his/her own.

We travel on our own... even to Alaska. We didn't need reservations - just pulled right in. Alaska is the easiest trip to do - there are only so many roads and everyone does the same things. However, we towed a Jeep so we got deep into Alaska.

It you want a caravan, look at Adventure Caravans. They seem to be popular.

Looking for western US & the national parks - not Alaska right now.

In late April of 2017 we will be taking delivery of our 1 RV (43' DP) & don't know the ropes on where to stay & I hear that getting reservations can be a problem. That is why I was thinking of a caravan.

Most RVers make reservations online during their trip planning process and have no problems. So can you!
But your rig size will limit your access to Natl park campgrounds, and some of them are so popular that reservation may be required a year in advance. There are good private campgrounds near the parks.
The Allstays ap is a great gateway to camps, reviews, fuel, propane, repair services, etc.
if I depended on caravans, I would be very tired from the schedules, and broke from the fees.
However, caravans may be a way to get your feet wet and learn the ropes from the RVers you will travel with.

Reservations will not be a problem - just call in advance. There are many, many motorhomes your size that are in these areas and there are suitable places to stay.

Just ask on this forum where to stay for visiting specific parks with your size RV and you'll get many recommendations. Then do a little research on the specific parks to see if they'll suit your tastes. Then make your reservation. You really will not have a problem and will not be the only one out there with your size RV.

When going on your own you can stay as long as you want or as short as you want. You can take days of just relaxing in your new motorhome and around your campsite. Being on a constant schedule would be very tiring to us so know that there are options to having a great trip on your own. Not trying to talk you out of a caravan but if reserving campgrounds is your big worry - fear not!

If you do go with a caravan go to the owner's forum for your manufacturer and perhaps they will be sponsoring a caravan. That would probably be a good way to talk over your specific manufacturer on how to do its, etc.
