Anybodies front window pop out?

My 2005 Windsport front window popped out about an inch at the top. The gap gets smaller on the sides as the bottom approaches. The bottom of the window is still flush.

How do you reset this baby? Or do I have to take it in?

PS: Not sure when this occurred. Curious to hear some input.

Cheers!

If you twist your frame enough, you can pop the windshield out.
Did you put it in an awkward position lately?

If you lower jack individually you can twist the frame and they will pop out, if you drive either front tire on a raised berm the windshield could pop out.
If you can when lowering jacks raise the same two jacks front and rear on same chassis rail than do the other side rail pair.
Should have glass shop reset the windshield some insurance companies pay for it to be done.

Had a new 1996 dp Coachman Catalina do this within 6 months from purchase. I had a dead level concrete pad poured and never happened again, yes I twisted the frame storing it on a "almost level" driveway.

Most shops will not guarantee that the window won't break if they try to reset it and you'll pay for the new glass in that case.

I have popped my front windowsill twice, both times my fault for trying to level on almost impossible sites. Now if the front wheels have to be off of the ground to get level, we change sites or leave. If the auto levelers do not do the job, I no longer try to force it. The leveler computer is smarter than I am.

After the second time the windshield tech gave me the plastic tool and showed me how to reset my windshield, but if it's your first time, I would have it done and watch. One mistake and the windshield can crack and there is a $1000. bill.

It happened on mine from a poor job by the first guy, but the insurance company replaced it. He did not know MH windshields and did it wrong.

How do you reset this baby: You don't, you hire a professional glass man to do it for you with his porta-power and the job, if done right, takes 3 days.

How do you keep it from happening again.. Well I put retainer straps on mine.. A pair of ratching cargo straps from anchors either side of the windshield one across the top one across the bottom.

Brez.....Some companies like Monaco put the original windshield in with just the rubber seal. Our friends had their window pop out three times. The fourth time they had it reset, it wasn't under warranty. They had a mobile RV specialist (someone I had used and found to do a do job) rest it the fourth time. They pulled the entire windshield out and sealed the rubber to the frame with sealant and then reinstalled the window. They also used sealant between the windshield and the rubber.

As stated, no one will guarantee that they can remove your old one without breaking it.

Have had three Type A MH's have never popped a windshield on any of them. All of them have had HWH 4 jack systems with B-Axial controls.

I've reset a couple of these, but as mentioned, it's not for the faint at heart. As these rubber gaskets age they shrink substantially which causes problems. Its just not from tweaking the chassis alone that causes them to slip out, its a combination of tweaking the chassis and a shrunken rubber gasket.

If yours is merely a compression gasket type retention for the windshield then it's fairly easy to work it back into place. Do not use screwdrivers, putty knives or scrapers! Soapy water and paint stir sticks can be used to manipulate the inner seal back to the windshield cut-out inner frame. Once that is in place you continue using the soapy water and stir sticks to maneuver the glass back into the compression groove of the seal. Using firm pressure with both hands you can push the glass back into the seal - you'll hear it "thud" when it's seated properly. Unfortunately this is merely a temporary fix. The rubber has most likely shrunk substantially and will probably need replaced so it doesn't continue to happen. As Diplomat Don mentions above, they can also be completely removed and a proper sealer used IF the rubber isn't too old and hasn't shrunk too much, however, if the rubber has shrunk too far, even sealing it properly will not prevent it from popping out again - time for a new seal.

Thanks for the input. Looks like I will put away the rubber mallet and take it to a glass shop. Sounds like this is the safest bet. Might as well get a good seal to limit the wind noise.
