Anyone carrying a pellet grill in their motorhome?

I am looking at carrying a Green Mountain Davy Crockett pellet grill in my class A diesel. Anyone out there carrying a pellet grill, if so what brand and model? Are you satisfied with your purchase? How easy is it to store while traveling? Did you have to make any modifications or adjustments to the grill or motorhome to get it to fit in the storage bay; and how do you secure it while traveling so it doesn't tip over or move around?

I carry a Davy Crockett. I like the fact that you can run it off 12vdc or 110ac. The wifi feature is pretty nice also. It can hold bigger items than the other portable smokers. I do not use it as a grill for steaks, just a smoker. My friend does do steaks on his and they turn out really good.

GMG Pellet Grill

I carry a David Crocket as well. I use it as a smoker only. When I first got it, it was a good conversation starter because everyone was curious! Not so much now. LOL. I use it for smoking only as I also carry a propane BBQ. I don't tie it down, just place it against the back wall under the 5er.

We use the Davy Crockett, I have to rotate the stack horizontal to go in the slide out tray. Fold the legs into the carrying position and store it. It stays put just fine. I store the power cords in the pellet hopper and the drip bucket next to the stove. I have only used the wifi at the sticks and bricks. Have had no problems at all.

I carry a Traeger Junior (Tailgater) and I have been since 2013. The GMG Davy Crockett is a very popular model for RV'rs. I have a GMG Daniel Boone at home. The Traeger Junior is a little bigger than the Davy Crockett. Traeger and GMG are both good brands to look at.

Davy Crockett Here as well

Davy Crockett fits in the storage of my Berskhire just fine.

Have a Traeger Ironwood 650 at home, and liked it so much, I wanted to bring one with me in RV. Looked at tailgater, ranger, and scout from traeger, before settling on the DC.

Very happy with it. It looks to be built for this application, with the folding legs, and easily removable stack in case you are constrained for height.

GMG also have provided great customer service. Traeger is a bit hit and miss.

I carry a Traeger Tailgater with foldable legs. It fits on a slide out tray without modification and it rides without needing to be secured. I have been happy with this purchase and use it for all of my grilling needs.

I am a Davy Crockett owner, and pleased with it.

It does fit nicely into one of my bays, if I pivot the stack. I like the WiFi feature and the dual power 110v or 12 volt. I no longer try to use higher temps for grilling. The heat warped the pan.

The customer service is top notch. They have replaced my warped pan, and a faulty power supply, all at no charge.

We have the Traeger portable Ranger grill, works well and is very compact. This grill was a great inprovement over the previous model, this model has been out almost 2 years. Works well on the smoke mode, a little more inconsistent on higher settings.

Davy Crockett here too! Just smoked a Tri-Tip for 9 hours yesterday. I have also done one in just over an hour, higher heat of course. Hot dogs are fantastic as well. Oh, flatbread pizza today for lunch. I use it a lot while RV’g and stores perfectly in my rear storage.

We carried a Davy Crockett in our Phaeton, i wrapped the pellet bin with a bungee cord so that the door would not open and laid it on its back in the slide out. Carried it that way for 2 years, smoking stuff, made pizza’s in it and so on. Still using it.

Purchased the GMG Davy Crockett last year for the coach....works great for a smoker! You can make a great steak as well...especially if you spring for a set of "grill grates" to sear your burgers and steaks. My only complaints is it can be hard starting after bouncing around a few hundred miles down in the basement. I think it bounces out the pellet charge from the fire box, and I usually just have to recycle the start sequence to solve the problem, and it does take longer to heat up than a propane grill when doing the steaks on the grill grates.

I also carry a Davy crocket in my motorhome. Fits right in the slide out tray with no issues. It's heavy so no need to strap down. It always stays put. I use it at home too, been super happy with it, smoked many tri tips, ribs, fish, chicken, stuffed peppers, and turned it up to 525 to do some good steaks as well. The only things I found you need to watch out for, the heat deflector inside moves around while traveling, so you need to put it back it place (takes 10 seconds to do) and after a few long smoking sessions you need to vacuum out the fire box. It slowly fills with Ash and deposits and makes it hard to start. Takes 2 minutes, no big deal.

Davy Crockett going on five years. Love it, have one at my cabin and a full size one at home as well. Very dependable and food is amazing.

If you purchase, save the styrofoam packing from the bottom of the box and the bottom six inches of the box itself. Makes a very stable carrying area in a slide out tray and protects the tray from any minor spillage.
