Anyone Towing a Dodge Grand Caravan on a Dolly?

I'm planning to use a dolly to tow our 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan with our 2000 Dutch Star DP. Anyone else towing a minivan, and any problems or recommendations?

No issues with a dolly. Just not as convenient as a flat-tow rig.

Towed a number of minivans back in the day. Beware that even with a 'wide' tow dolly, you can still impact the side of the minivan with the tow dolly fender leading to body damage that your wife will notice and force you to repair to the tune of $1700, each time...

Said 'impact' usually happens when you're in a tight gas station and you have to pull your large, gas chassis motorhome around some idiot who is using the pump area as his own personal parking lot. But I digress.

Problem was solved by buying a diesel motorhome so I can now use the truck lanes with their ample room and slightly more courteous drivers. I also now flat tow a Jeep. Life is good.

We towed one for about 5k miles. No problems. Our dolly was wide and had surge brakes. Our dolly didn't pivot. The front wheels on the van turned to follow the dolly during tight turns. I would suggest you load and unload the van a few times at home to see what it entails. Think of what can be done to make the job easier.

The flat tow set up on my 2000 Mini Van 3.8l , 41LE trans , cost about 3K Canadian , 10 years ago; tow bar, base plate, fluid pump and brake system, self installed ; so I can see the reasoning behind a dolly cost wise .
BUT , considering my long term commitment to the coach and toad and the flat tow convenience worth ever penny . Under 5 min. hook up under 2 to disconnect.

JM2C worth .

Thank you for the comments. Glad to hear no big problems. Just getting into class A and not full timing yet, so not ready to invest in a new car and associated equipment for a flat tow. Best regards, Tom
