Aqua Hot

When should you add refrigerant?
How often should you have to add refrigerant?

Do you mean coolant? Aqua Hot doesn't use "refrigerant". If coolant, you shouldn't really need to add any once the level stabilizes (If you've got a brand new unit). FYI - mine uses the older glycol coolant which is pretty stable..the newer gras coolant may evaporate quicker and need some monitoring. I check mine about twice a year and every once in a while add 1-2 cups.

I have things that I check weekly and that is one of those things. Takes about 5 seconds...open the bay door, look at the tank, level is still between the two lines, close bay door, done. I may add some coolant maybe once or twice a year. I use the newer boiler fluid and I carry 2 of the gallon containers, one open and one still "new" (sealed container). The reserve tank is very close to the top of the bay making pouring anything a messy proposition. I found a utility pump (like a liquid hand soap pump with a hose). Works great, stick the hose in the tank, a couple of pumps and that is it. Pump has a hanger for the hose, so, it just stays on the jug. No fuss, no muss.

The AH "coolant" is propylene glycol.
