Aqua hot

Well. We overheated coming up I-17 towards flagstaff. Almost made it. My concern is that it looks like I lost a lot of aquahot coolant rather than radiator fluid. The aquahot bay was full of it. It was the orangish color rather than the red/pink of the antifreeze What would overheating the engine cause the aquahot to lose fluid ??

Not sure about your aqua hot setup, but some hydronic heating systems cross heat exchange with the engine coolant. If the engine coolant was really hot it may have raised the aqua hot coolant high enough to push it out the overflow. The temp rise + change in elevation may have done it.
Does your overflow tube on your aqua hot reservoir go out the bottom of the compartment?

Check the hose to the overflow tank. Mine was loose at the Aqua Hot end and couldnít pull replacement fluid from the tank. Same thing would allow for overflow onto the floor as the fluid in the unit expanded with heat. The Aqua Hot is heated with engine heat for ďfreeĒ heat as you drive. Pulling the grades likely brought your engine temp to a higher level.

Good luck,
Dennis

Only the 450 Aqua Hots have the third pump and engine pre-heat feature

Is this a 450?

Itís a 450d. On closer look, it wasnít aquahot fluid. Itís radiator fluid. The hose from the preheat cane loose Mystery solved Not the problem but the mystery. Towed to a service center so waiting till morning and hopefully they can fix us quick. And permanently

If you want it fixed permanently put constant tension clamps on each hose for the engine preheat at the back of the Aquahot.
