page for info related to compatibility between silicone grease and almost all materials currently in use as seals in hydraulic systems. And here is a linked
page that provides the compatibility of the same materials to Kerosene, the only listed aliphatic hydrocarbon, the primary ingredient in WD-40. While WD-40 is suitable for use with most materials, it is incompatible with many more materials than silicone. In most cases you could use either safely.
