Atwood Water Heater electric thermosat

When an electric element is installed in a propane Atwood water heater is the element controlled by a thermostat. Richard

If you are buying a conversion kit, a thermocouple is attached to the side of the water tank to monitor water temperature and control when the electrical heating element is on. They are usually "dumb" meaning a set screw to lower or raise the temperature, but no thermostat to tell you how warm it is.
