Aux Battery

Hi All
Just bought our first Motor Home.
Figuring this thing as best as l can.
Always pulled a trailer and now graduated to a class A motor home.
Wanting to find out some info one the wiring of the Aux batteries.
When l open it up the batteries where connected 12v neg to neg and pos to pos.
Checked gauge and says empty.
The batteries that where in their where dead and just regular car batteries not deep cycle.
l put back the cables the way l took them off and reconnected them.
Gauge still reads empty.
Anyone with any ideas?
Thank you

Did you install new batteries ?

If yes, look for a switch near the door that says Aux, House or Use / Store. That's your battery control switch.

If nothing happens, then look down near the batteries for a circuit breaker that may be tripped. They have little levers that neś to be pushed into the body.

For the best possible answers ; Please ; tell us all your coach info , year, make , model and chassis manufacturer.

The 12 volt circuit breaker , that twinboat refers to may look like this , picture below.

What is the voltage on the batteries themselves? Car batteries or not you should see voltage. Use a multimeter to eliminate the variable of cables, connections and breakers between your batteries and your level indicator. It's entirely possible the batteries are flat dead, so start with a measurement there. After that it could be a breaker, disconnect switch, a cable not connected, fuse, on and on but start at the beginning.
