Awning attachment

I have a question about something that is on the awning of my motorhome
I have a 2004 HR endeavor with a carefree awning. I have a bracket that is mounted on the end of the awning. I cannot figure out the function of this bracket. I want to install a sun shield in the awning . I found this bracket and was wondering what it is for. I will need to remove it to get the screen in the mounting slot. If anybody knows what this is please share with me.

It appears to be an " anti billowing " rotation stop , for the roller tube , it's function will make more sense if you look closely at the hook as it relates to another hook on the coach body when the awning is retracted.
It designed to stop the tube unrolling the awning fabric, while driving in a cross wind.

Seems like it would also be useful for keeping the awning material located in the tube to keep the arms square to the coach body while retracting .

Are you talking about the hook?

If so, that hook holds the awning to the coach when it is fully rolled up. You can see it lock itself into place when you roll the awning up.

I believe that Carefree of Colorado calls them "tractioners." Here is the product page for them. I seem to remember they help the awning roll up inside the Alumaguard cover more gently.

Well it certainly looks like the accessory that is shown in the manual. I can’t really see how or what it is supposed to do. It cannot be used to secure the awning to the side of the coach as the hook is backwards and there is nothing for it to fit into.

I think I will have to call Colorado for information on how to install a sunscreen on the roller tube.
