In a earlier post "OMG my awning is out, and I'm driving down the Hwy", brought my attention to the need to lock the awning roller and so I ordered a awning lock, received it and am going to install it tomorrow.
But because my senses are heightened concerning the awning, and getting ready to FT, I ran across this awning cover to overall protect it from basically the beating hot sun an help prolong the life of the fabric. Also I thought it may provide some protection from brushing up against other things while driving....like maybe tree branches and preventing tears and the like. But in reality it's only covering maybe 5" or 6"...or the last wrap on the roller so that's really the only area that's being protected from the "sun". Some MH's have a metal awning cover...we don't. Anyway, as I pondered this option, I'm like ok, we reach our destination, we start to set up our CG site, we'll be here for 2 to 3 wks., so I disengage the awning lock, remove the awning cover and store it ?????? probably I guess under the MH, and then deploy the awning if and when it's needed. After our stay, and we get ready to break camp, get awning cover, retract the awning, put on the awning cover, engage the awning lock and off we go.
Question:
For about $95 or so, and the
possible protection it may provide overall, do you see any justification or good reason to purchase a product like this? It seems like kind of a gimmick accessory of sorts to me. Of course I'd get the right size that fits our MH if it's worth it. Your thoughts?
