My current motorhome is the first I've had with the electric patio awning and wind sensors. Frankly, I'd rather have a manual. A manual has SO many options for setup that the electric ones don't, especially being able to angle the awning up or down to provide for more shade, shed water, etc. You can use guy lines on a manual to hold it secure for some not-ideal weather (not all weather) while the electric one with wind sensors cannot be since it will try to roll up and if tied down, will burn out a motor. The last manual awning I had was a snap to roll down or put up...not much more time than standing there pushing a button, especially considering the flexibility it gave me.
So, with this electric awning, if I'm not there, or at night, it's rolled up. I've found I don't use it much because it comes nearly straight out from the coach (very little incline) so if that side is facing the sun, unless it's late afternoon, we're still sitting under it in the sun. Not very useful.
