Sorry to ask the stupid question... but have you tried using a good multi depth and wood metal stud finder? I would think it would be able to find them.

Overnight, weather and temp dependant, the exterior walls where there are no frames will condensate while the area with the frames will be dry. Or its the reverse. Can't recall off hand but the framing is very apparent, horizontal along with vertical.

Stud detector is questionable since most builders use aluminum framing. A stub detector actually senses the steel nails or screws in the wood.

Awning install advice

A modern electronic stud detector senses the change in density and does not depend on fasteners. The old magnetic stud finder worked on nails in the studs. That said, you should be able to us it on a RV to find studs.

I used a common battery operated studfinder on my Newmar that uses aluminum studs. Worked well to locate them.
