Awning replacement

I have a 42' long motorhome with a 26' long slide out. The slide out awning has a few holes that allows water get into the slide out. Has any one ever changed the awning? How difficult is it?

I highly recommend the high-quality acrylic fabric from Stone Vos! You can replace it yourself with the help of a friend and a couple of 8' ladders. There are lots of videos on You Tube showing you how to do it. Talk to Chris at Stone Vos and he may have a video.

You say that leaks in the awning allow water to get INSIDE the slide out? If water gets inside the slide out, you have a problem with the slide seals.

I agree Joe. I called Ingrid at stone Vos she explained to me in a few minutes how to get the measurements, she had the same exact color as ours, I ordered it and she had it made and delivered at my house in 4 days, course I live in Florida. Wife and I had the old one off and the new one on in lees than 1 hour.
I highly recommend Stone Vos.

I did it all by myself, about the same as doing a patio Awning. Not hard at all.

Had PPL replace mine. Absolutely no stress or labor-intensive work involved for me. I would have done it myself but the "new" one is electric and I wasn't sure where to tap into a 12v power source. I did offer up a few "attaboys" and thanked them both when the job was completed. Oh, and yes, I paid the bill which was as quoted.

Slideout cover replacement for my Adventurer

I choose Tough Top Awnings in Washington to send me a replacement awning cover for my large 13' x 3' 15 oz. slide out on my '99 Diesel Pusher. They were great on the phone and answered all my questions regarding the new cover measurements and installation. I found them via a RVGeeks post which outlined the entire slideout remove and replace process. It just arrived so next week I'll install it. Total cost was $194 which included the $6.99 shipping and a new main awning pull strap for the passenger side.

fatchance has the right thought...if you have to cover a leak then its just that a cover or bandaid... bugs are going to like that and oh tell the wife the spiders have a nice place to enter.. just making fun but you get the idea?? and many awning fitters use sunbrella.. a lot of em..

Replacing topper fabric is ideally a two person job, BTW, since it’s best to have one person pulling it through the channels and another feeding it at the other end. The wider the topper the more you need that second person since you will otherwise be forever going back and forth between the two jobs.
