Awning troubles

Have you ever had to replace a window awning torsion spring? Well, I think my slide window awning spring has snapped! It's an A&E Elite 132inch window awning, covers two windows on the slide. I was pulling it down and about half way down, there was a loud "snap" and I lost tension.....awning fell to bottom of the awning length and no roll up force. I haven't yet opened the end caps yet to see if the spring is broken or possibly just sheared a locking pin or something. Not sure just how the roller and spring is assembled......any details would be very helpful. (Rook)
