Awning wire short need help!
I am again looking for advice. I have a carefree awning. The fuse blows every time a new fuse is put in. I have determined that there is likely a power wire, in the wall on passenger side behind cabinets that is likely shorted on a screw or something inside. Regardless of cause, it is clearly shorted. I find no indication of a short on any visible wire at the power panel or at the awning motor....unfortunately it is in the wall and not accessible. I have hooked 12v temporarily, direct from a portable battery to the motor, for test purposes, and the awning operates perfectly.
So, I need suggestions for solutions that don't involve removing the cabinets or cutting the wall open.
I have even thought about running a wire to the awning motor then across the roof to the rear and down into the rear to the power center? Any thoughts on that? I don't want to penetrate the roof either if at all possible.
Or run new 12 v power from somewhere up front across the roof to the awning motor which is at the top front of RV?? Suggestions on how to do this?
Anyone ever done something similar?
